I've spent the week end in Port Saint Louis du Rhône. Gorgeous name for a little town, isn't it.
It is at the very bottom of the Camargue, meaning it has a worth the trip wild life. But it is also an industrial site, close to Marseille, with a lot of chemical and oil industry, still more or less alive (They are closing one after the other). To go there, you have to drive through a flat land, that is both ugly (on one side) and gorgeous (on the other side of the road).
This weekend was one with a wind warning. I often complain about the wind blowing in La Fare, but it is nothing compared to the wind in that part of Camargue. Difficult to stand, difficult to walk, and don't even consider smoking a cigarette... Besides, I was there to attend conferences, and was busy all the time I spent there. However, as we went for lunch, I took a few pictures.
This is how a small town in Camargue looks like on a windy Saturday, around noon...

The most interesting feature is the heart-shaped cross, that is the symbol of Camargue, and that Christian Lacroix often used in his haute-couture dresses and jewels. Oh, I forgot, we had "daube de taureau" (bull + red wine casserole). I could kill for some :-)
